Director Engagement, Strategy, Architecture and Investment

Based in Parramatta

Ongoing position available

Total remuneration package starting at $265,293 per annum (inclusive of superannuation)

Your role

The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is seeking a strategic IT architecture leader to shape enterprise‐wide technology direction and guide investment decisions through strong architectural governance and senior stakeholder engagement. This role ensures technology plans, platforms and funding priorities are closely aligned to departmental objectives, frontline service delivery and whole‐of‐government outcomes.

The position is accountable for strengthening alignment across DCJ and Portfolio agencies, setting ICT strategy, developing and overseeing major business cases and funding submissions, and establishing enterprise architecture principles and product roadmaps. Acting as a key connector across the organisation, the role drives consistency, maximises value from technology investments and supports the delivery of measurable benefits.

What you'll do

As the Director, Engagement, Strategy, Architecture and Investment, you will:

* Lead the development and delivery of enterprise‐wide ICT strategy and roadmaps, aligning technology, cyber policy, risk appetite and service priorities across the department and Portfolio.
* Govern enterprise architecture frameworks, standards and design assurance, ensuring initiatives and solutions are coherent, compliant and strategically aligned.
* Drive enterprise and Line of Business investment planning, including multi‐year Capex/Opex forecasting, portfolio balancing, and funding pathway identification.
* Sponsor and coordinate major business cases and portfolio submissions, securing timely endorsements and approvals in line with whole‐of‐government requirements.
* Provide senior strategic advice and oversight across DCJ and Portfolio agencies, tracking delivery and benefits, influencing solution choices, and ensuring outcomes remain on plan.

What we're looking for

* Extensive experience leading ICT strategy, enterprise architecture and large‐scale investment planning in complex, multi‐agency environments.
* Strong capability in developing and governing business cases, benefits management, and portfolio performance reporting.
* Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority, aligning diverse stakeholders, vendors and programs to enterprise standards and priorities.
* Expertise in balancing competing demands such as frontline service needs, legacy risk, cyber uplift, affordability and innovation.
* A strategic, credible leader able to engage at executive level and drive adoption of change at scale across platforms and services
