The Institute for Communities and Regional Development conducts multidisciplinary collaborative research in partnership with regional communities to prepare for and adapt to change while working to maintain unique histories and identities. With its vision to be the leading Australian research institute addressing the needs of regional communities, the institute draws together research expertise to address complex social, economic and cultural challenges and opportunities.

Play a pivotal role at the heart of the Institute for Communities and Regional Development, where research makes a difference in communities and regions. As Senior Institute Coordinator, you will be a key member of the institute leadership team, ensuring the seamless management of Institute operations and enabling researchers to deliver meaningful outcomes for communities and regions.

Who you are



As Senior Institute Coordinator, you will play a central leadership role in the effective management and operation of the Institute for Community and Regional Development.

* You are a highly organized and strategic research professional who thrives in a dynamic university environment.
* With strong experience in research administration and project management, you bring a deep understanding of the research lifecycle — from project development and funding submissions through to compliance, reporting and evaluation.
* You are confident leading operational functions, managing budgets and overseeing complex project portfolios while providing trusted advice to senior leaders. You communicate with clarity and professionalism, producing high-quality reports, briefings and strategic documentation.



What you'll do



As Senior Institute Coordinator, you will play a central leadership role in the effective management and operation of the Institute for Community and Regional Development.

* Ensure compliance with grant conditions, ethics approvals, governance requirements and University policies.
* Prepare periodic progress, performance and final reports for internal and external stakeholders and funding bodies.
* Support the development of major submissions and external funding applications in collaboration with academics and the Commercialization and Partnerships team.
* Oversee and coordinate the Institute's portfolio of research projects from implementation through to completion.



What will help you succeed

The ideal person for this position will possess the following:

* It is essential you hold a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study and at least four years of related work experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Understanding of the regulatory and compliance framework in a research or higher education environment with the ability to operate and lead staff in compliant practices within that environment.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and an ability to liaise appropriately with diverse stakeholders across the university and with external partners.
* Strong time management and organisational skills including the ability to coordinate multiple projects, prioritise competing work demands and organise own work and that of others to meet tight deadlines.
* Well-developed writing and editing skills with the ability to produce accurate and timely reports and analyses of project performance and outcomes as well as present these to both University and external stakeholders.
* Extensive experience in research administration and/or project management, providing high-quality support and advice across all stages of research activity — from project design and implementation to monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.

Salary: Total remuneration range $119,378 to $132,004 pa (includes salary range of $100,677 - $111,325 pa, employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading)
