About the role:
Prosecutions Support Branch (PSB), Courts & Prosecution Services Division (C&PSD) is seeking a motivated and hard-working individual to join our team.
PSB engages the combined skills and knowledge of prosecutors to meet the support needs of Victoria Police and the community. PSB is involved in continually maintaining contemporary legal knowledge to provide professional support services in both criminal and civil litigation. The branch includes specialist legal units that support areas of legal training and development, disclosure, subpoena coordination, governance, liquor licencing, prosecution front-line support and coronial services.
The Legal Support Officer will predominantly provide support to the PSB leadership group and any other ad hoc administrative work for the branch. The position will work closely with and assist senior police lawyers on the floor.

Your duties will include:
1. Working with specialist prosecutors & lawyers.
2. Provide a range of administrative support duties, including the preparation of reports and correspondence, minute taking and other office related duties.
3. Conducting legal research and providing support to specialist prosecutors and lawyers as required.
4. Updating document records and archiving legal matters and documentation.
5. General purchasing and regulating office supplies.
6. Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with internal stakeholders.
As the successful applicant, you will have:
7. Ability to maintain systematic and accurate administrative records.
8. Good computer skills, particularly in relation to word processing, data entry and software packages.
9. Proven ability in the prioritisation of work with minimal supervision.
10. Commitment and achievement in meeting a high level of customer service to all clients.
11. Good organisational skills with the ability to multi-task.
12. Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and deal appropriately with sensitive and highly confidential information and issues.
Requirements and relevant information:
13. One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
14. The salary range for a VPS2 role is $56,271 to $72,2621 (covering salary ranges VPSG and VPSG ; Although it is standard practice for selected candidates to commence at the base of the salary range, genuine consideration will be given to a commencement salary within the available range that is commensurate with the successful candidate's knowledge, skills and experiences. This will be subject to negotiations with the Hiring Manager in the course of the selection process and may include the provision of evidence of a higher income and/or supporting documentation (as required).

17. The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
18. As a member of the Legal Services Department, you will be located on selection, at a specific office within a division for a particular advertised opportunity. However, given occasional legal service demand issues you may be required at times to undertake varied work within the Department.
