A DAY IN THE LIFE?
Reporting into the Financial Controller, this role will include supporting the team across financial accounting tasks, accounts payable and receivable processes whilst assisting with the completion of reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities Include
* Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts, sub‐ledgers, bank accounts, and maintain the fixed asset register to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
* Process general ledger and accrual journals, ensuring timely and accurate month‐end close activities.
* Assist in the preparation of daily sales and cash flow reports, weekly costing reports, and monthly financial management reports to support informed business decision‐making.
* Support the preparation and lodgement of BAS and GST returns, ensuring compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.
* Provide accounting and administrative support during budgeting cycles, forecasts, and annual and half‐year audit processes.
* Assist in maintaining the integrity of financial systems, including data validation, reconciliation between systems and sub‐ledgers, and testing of system upgrades or enhancements.
* Contribute to business performance analysis, support internal control compliance, and identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiencies.
About You
To shine in this role, you will bring:
* Tertiary qualified in Accounting or Finance, – working towards CPA highly desirable.
* Demonstrated experience in a similar accounting role, with strong technical capability across reconciliations, journals, reporting and month‐end processes; retail industry exposure will be highly regarded.
* High attention to detail and numerical accuracy, with the ability to analyse financial information, identify discrepancies, and implement practical solutions in a timely manner.
* Strong organisational and time management skills, able to prioritise competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy and meeting reporting timeframes.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to quickly learn financial systems (experience with Dynamics GP or similar ERP systems advantageous), and confident communication skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
