LNIC - Land Combat System (LCS) Battle Lab Systems Engineer
Job Description

Contract start 20 February **** To 12 months, 2 x 12 months extensions.
Provide SME advice on in-service or emerging components of the Tactical Communications Network and their interfaces, including:
EPLRS MANET
BMSC2
Harris Network Interface System (NIS)
Harris Network Planning and Management System (NPMS)
Systematic SitaWare suite of applications
Future C2 applications and systems, including WinTAK and ATAK
Wideband networking radios and waveforms
MANET waveforms, including Barrage Relay waveforms
Provide engineering management oversight of the LNBL configuration, processes and personnel.
As directed, investigate emerging waveforms (i.e. ANW2, SRW, MUOS, TSM) through desktop analysis and trials.
Support the development and deployment of test tools and procedures within the LCSBL (independently or as part of a small software development team).
Provide SME advice on in-service or emerging systems and standards including:
Land Data Model (LDM)
Generic Vehicle Architecture (GVA)
Generic Soldier Architecture (GSA)
Support the development of LCSBL test threads.
Attend and inform program/project events.
Develop and coordinate operational analysis supporting TCN tests and trials with Army and other Defence organisations.
Support risk reduction trials and acceptance tests for LAND 200 Tranche 2 systems.
Apply the APS code of conduct and principles of equity and diversity, fraud and ethics, and OH&S.
Provide other services as tasked by SO2 LCS Design.

Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering, and/or Systems Engineering
Software development experience (including work done independently or as part of a small team).
It is highly desirable that contractor involved in this task has:
a. An enhanced professional awareness of the following subjects, gained through Experience in producing technical documentation
b. Experience in the use of middleware for distributed applications
It is highly desirable that contractor involved in this task has:
c. Extensive Network programming experience, including:
Familiarity with the ethernet/IP headers and packet structuring for the development of inspection and filtering rules
Familiarity with writing software linking to raw packet capture libraries (libpcap)
Experience in web front-end development
It is desirable that the contractor involved in this task has one or more of:
A background in software development
Experience with unified modelling language
Experience with writing acceptance test procedures
Knowledge of deployable ADF command and control systems
It is desirable that the contractor involved in this task has one or more of:
Formal training in (or has equivalent experience in) the deployment and administration of large scale virtualised environments (ESXi)
Experience with conducting data and configuration management, particularly within documentation; and software and hardware baselines
Training or certifications in project management or business analysis qualifications.
