**Position Information**:
North Gosford Learning Centre (NGLC) is a vibrant, dynamic school for specific purposes catering for students with social and emotional needs. The school comprises 6 classes which cater for up to 42 Year 5-10 students. The school has approximately 32% students who have an Aboriginal background. The school is situated on Darkinjung Country in an environment of community gardens and bushland with modern facilities.
Students attending NGLC come from areas throughout the Central Coast. The school uses a trauma informed approach to ensure all students feel they belong in a safe school environment. NGLC offers programs to support engagement, learning and capacity building. Students are provided with opportunities to develop skills necessary to enhance resilience. Students develop a deep sense of belonging and build connections which support them well beyond their enrolment. Students are proud of their achievements and the life opportunities that are developed through their learning at NGLC.
NGLC has prioritised a number of areas to further enhance the development of student and staff skills to enhance the learning for students and the capacity of staff. Staff are provided with opportunities to develop and build their knowledge and skills in a broad range of areas including trauma informed practice, music, technology, literacy and numeracy and community engagement. These skills are utilised to support students in an individualised and differentiated way through strong collaborative work with parents, community and stakeholders.
As leaders in our school community it is important the NGLC supports the needs of partner schools. The school works collaboratively supporting other local schools as they work together to ensure all students are positive active members of their local community.

In addition to the general selection criteria, an open, approachable, empathetic and visible leader with outstanding interpersonal skills and with a strong positive commitment to further developing partnerships with students, staff, parents and the wider community.
Demonstrated ability to genuinely engage with Aboriginal parents, community members and the Cooinda AECG to significantly enhance learning opportunities for Aboriginal students and strengthen Aboriginal Education programs within the school.
Demonstrated outstanding communication and negotiation skills to lead and manage complex and challenging situations that leads to improved outcomes for all in a supportive inclusive environment.
Demonstrated capacity to lead the implementation of innovative student focused individualised learning programs that provide outstanding outcomes and opportunities for diverse student needs.
Demonstrated expertise in leading adaptable flexible programs that deliver improved outcomes for diverse learners who have social and emotional wellbeing needs.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
