Overview
Time for a Northern Territory adventure? We are looking for an experienced Community Dietitian for a publicly funded service in the Big Rivers Region. You will join a small allied health team and manage the growing dietetic caseload in four remote Aboriginal communities.
Responsibilities and Role Details
Manage a mixed pediatric and adult caseload, predominantly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, focusing on pediatric growth support, adult malnutrition / unintentional weight loss, type 2 diabetes, and general metabolic-related conditions.
Deliver dietetic support primarily one-on-one, with occasional group sessions.
Plan and execute community trips (1-day, 1-night, or 2-night; no Friday trips; maximum two different communities per week).
Travel to remote communities by 4WD or light aircraft and stay overnight on weekdays.
Provide stakeholder education, update resources in remote clinics, and assist Public Health Nutritionist/Dietitian(s) with Market Basket Surveys in remote stores.
Perform case management and community education, requiring experience with both adults and pediatrics.
Share a team environment with OTs, Speech Pathologists, Social Workers, Physiotherapists, Allied Health Assistants, and a Team Leader.
Receive accommodation and travel reimbursement (return travel up to $1,200; free accommodation for locums; car available for local use).
Start ASAP until 5th December with possible extension.
Qualifications and Requirements
APD status required; overseas trained candidates must be assessed before applying.
Comfortable with small planes, driving, and overnight travel.
Experience with community case management, adult and pediatric dietetics.
