Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Barber to join our team.
As part of the Vocational Services team, this role is dedicated to delivering essential and ancillary services to support the men in custody and advance their development.
Reporting to the Vocational Services Manager, this position will be responsible for providing haircuts to persons in our care, alongside training and mentoring prisoner workers, helping them enhance their technical skills, knowledge, and customer service abilities.
The Barber will work with our education provider to deliver training programs, provide feedback, and ensure adherence to industry standards, while maintaining a high-quality service. The Barber will support training of vital skills to persons in our care with a view to assisting in long term job prospects and enabling support back into community.
Responsibilities
* Provide haircuts and grooming services to prisoners in the facility.
* Train and mentor prisoner workers in barbering skills and customer service.
* Collaborate with education providers to deliver structured training programs.
* Maintain industry standards and high-quality service.
* Support prisoner workers in developing technical skills and long-term job prospects.
Qualifications and Experience
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
* Demonstrated team management skills, providing clear direction, advice and necessary support in day-to-day work.
* Expertise developing and implementing new processes and procedures.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience within a correctional services environment (desirable).
