The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for profit community-based organisation that includes: Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool, the Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections. It cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush. We are an Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually. The Outdoor Museum is internationally renowned as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia's history. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our gold-rush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers. About the Role Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, this key role delivers high-quality administration across the full employee lifecycle—from onboarding, contracts and role changes to offboarding and early careers programs. You’ll act as a super user for HR and payroll systems, ensuring accurate data, smooth processes, and compliance across a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Working with a diverse range of teams—from curators and educators to visitor services—you’ll help the People & Culture team deliver efficient, reliable, and scalable services that support our vibrant museum community. Strong systems skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach are essential. Duties & Responsibilities Provide end-to-end People & Culture administration across the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, contracts, role changes, offboarding, and early careers programs. Act as administrator and super user for HR and payroll systems, maintaining accurate data, documentation, and user guidance. Monitor and resolve roster, timesheet, leave, and system alerts to ensure payroll and compliance accuracy. Support recruitment processes and provide guidance to managers and employees on system use, policies, and procedures. Maintain compliant employee records and manage statutory, role-based, and certification requirements. Identify opportunities to improve HR systems, processes, and workflows, supporting greater efficiency and user confidence across the organisation. Desired Qualifications Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Proven experience in high-volume HR administration and systems support, with strong attention to detail. Strong capability in HR systems, process optimisation, and delivering consistent, customer-focused support in a busy environment.
