**Eligibility**
- To be eligible for employment with the Department of Health and Aged Care

applicants must be an Australian citizen at the time an offer of employment is made

- Satisfactory completion of an Australian Federal Police criminal history check,

and where relevant a Working with Children and Vulnerable People Check.

**Division Responsibilities**

Ageing and Aged Care Services Division delivers effective high quality programs that provide

services and support to older Australians, either at home or in a residential setting, while

facilitating the aged care sector to grow and mature. The Division works closely with the rest

of the Ageing and Aged Care Group, with the Health State Network and with key areas

across Health to support the delivery of quality, affordable and accessible aged care support

services for older people.

**Branch Responsibilities**

The Section is responsible for developing and implementing consumer insights and

sentiment tracking systems to feed into program design and improvements within aged care

policy and program design.

**Section Responsibilities**

The Health Systems Interface section is responsible for leading the aged care / health

interface program of work across the group and department more broadly. This includes:
developing and implementing policy projects endorsed by Senior Executive to be delivered

through partnership models with identified areas across the Department; informing New

Policy Proposals, State and Territory negotiations on interface issues, costings and

associated briefs for Senior Executives; responsibility for developing and overseeing

departmental interface priorities.

**Key Responsibilities**

The APS6 position will work under the supervision of the Assistant Director to support the

operations of the section. Key responsibilities include:

- Analyse health and aged care datasets using R and Teradata SQL to inform health

and aged care service use and interactions
- Undertake economic modelling to support a cross systems data strategy focussing on

improved health outcomes for older Australians
- Undertake literature reviews and review of other evidence sources and use this to

inform policy decisions and model parameters
- Assist with the collation and analysis of data to support understanding of clinical

roles and responsibilities***
- Assist in the development of high-quality agenda papers, briefs, ministerial

correspondence, reports and varied other correspondence, summarising findings of

the data analysis and modelling
- Contribute to other section activities as required.***

**Key Capabilities**
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
- Strong understanding of and ability to use analytical tools including R, SQL, and

Excel.
- Ability to undertake objective, systematic analysis and draw accurate conclusions

based on evidence, and use this to prepare evidence-based reports for a range of

different stakeholders.
- Ability to use data analysis to inform economic model development to understand

cross systems savings and health outcomes.
- Strong understanding of existing health and aged care datasets, and linked data.
- Clear and concise oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external

stakeholders.
- Ability to work in or with geographically dispersed teams.

**Desirable Experience**
- Experience working in a quantitative role focused on statistics/economics/analysis of

linked health and aged care data/preparation of evidence-based reports would be

considered favourably.
- Experience working with statistical programs such as R and Teradata SQL would be

considered favourably.
