Planning Engineer - 8/6
This role is suited to a technically skilled and proactive professional looking to shape the short and medium term future of a multi-mine gold operation. With new underground and open-pit mines coming online, and a centrally located, underutilised processing facility ramping up, this is a chance to play a critical part in integrated mine planning and development strategies.
Working closely with production, geology, and technical services teams, this position ensures alignment between long-term business objectives and actionable mine plans, contributing to safe, cost-effective, and efficient ore delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain 3-month and 12-month mining schedules for underground operations
* Optimise mine designs and sequences to meet production targets and strategic objectives
* Liaise with geology to ensure alignment between grade control and mining plans
* Work with processing and production teams to align ore delivery with mill constraints
* Conduct trade-off studies to assess mining methods, cut-off grades, and sequencing
* Analyse performance data to improve forecast accuracy and planning inputs
* Contribute to life-of-mine (LOM) planning and support Reserve and Resource updates
* Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and site leadership
Skills & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field
* 3+ years of experience in short- to medium-term planning (UG)
* Proficiency with mine planning software (Deswik, Surpac, Datamine or equivalent)
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental coordination
* High attention to detail and a systems-based approach to planning accuracy
* Working knowledge of mining regulations, safety, and environmental practices
