About the Role
Reporting to the Design Manager, you will play a key role in the delivery of mechanical design packages for bulk materials handling and mining infrastructure projects. The position will involve ownership of mechanical design deliverables from concept and feasibility studies through to detailed design and construction documentation.
You will work on large-scale materials handling infrastructure including conveyors, transfer stations, surge bins, crushing systems and associated plant equipment. The role will involve close coordination with structural, civil, process and electrical teams to ensure seamless project integration.
Key responsibilities will include:
* 3D modelling and detailed mechanical design
* Development of GA drawings, fabrication drawings and equipment layouts
* Design coordination across multidisciplinary project teams
* Reviewing and checking work produced by junior designers
* Participation in design reviews and technical discussions with clients
* Supporting modular and repeatable design initiatives across projects
Skills & Experience Required
* 8+ years' experience in mechanical design within mining, resources or heavy industry
* Advanced capability with Bentley MicroStation and associated 3D modelling tools
* Experience designing conveyors, transfer chutes, surge bins and crushing infrastructure
* Experience with ProSteel, ProStructures, Plant 3D or AutoCAD Mechanical highly regarded
* Strong understanding of structural steel detailing and plant layouts
* Exposure to greenfield and/or brownfield mining projects
* Ability to operate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
* Strong communication and coordination skills
