Currently looking for an infrastructure Engineer with experience in Cisco unified communications to join a Sydney based client on a 6 months day rate contract.
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for Voice & Communications, you will be the Subject Matter Expert responsible for the lifecycle of the real-time communication platforms. Your primary focus will be on the design, implementation, and optimisation of mission-critical voice toolsets, including our extensive Cisco IP Telephony (CUCM) environment, modern Zebra Push-to-Talk (PTT) over Wi-Fi solutions, and our traditional Motorola LMR/DMR 2-way radio systems.
We are looking for a seasoned engineer who can bridge the gap between traditional telephony/RF engineering and modern, IP-based unified communications. Your role will be to enhance the reliability and functionality of these systems, drive our technology roadmap forward, and ensure our teams have the best communication tools to serve our customers.
Skills needed for this role:
- Solid experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise voice and unified communications systems.
- Expert level knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), including Cisco Unity Connection, IM & Presence, and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunking. Demonstrable experience with bulk administration, dial plan management, and troubleshooting in a large, multi-site environment.
- Security & Cyber Focused on Voice Security & Engineering concepts, Including hardening of access through authentication, SSO, SRTP & Other voice security centric engineering tasks.
- Hands-on experience with modern Push-to-Talk over Cellular/Wi-Fi solutions, specifically Zebra Work Cloud Connect & PTT Pro or similar enterprise-grade platforms. Understanding of its deployment on mobile devices (e.g., Zebra TC-series) and integration into wireless networks.
- Proven experience with Land Mobile Radio (LMR) or Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) systems (e.g., Motorola MOTOTRBO). You must understand the fundamentals of RF, repeaters, and fleet management for traditional radio systems including IOT Integrations into Radio Solutions.
- Strong foundation in enterprise networking, with a deep understanding of QoS (DSCP, CoS) for voice and video, VLANs, and troubleshooting protocols (SIP, RTP, MGCP) across complex LAN/WAN environments.
- Demonstrable scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) applied to voice infrastructure. Experience with APIs (like Cisco AXL) for automating MACDs (Moves, Adds, Changes, Deletes) is highly advantageous.
Desired Qualifications / Skills
- Core Platforms: Cisco CUCM (v12.x or higher), Cisco CUBE/ISR Voice Gateways, Zebra Workforce Connect, Motorola MOTOTRBO Capacity Plus/Max, Zoom.
- Protocols: SIP, H.323, MGCP, RTP/SRTP.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Collaboration or equivalent industry experience is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of Cisco switching and wireless infrastructure.
- Experience with voice quality monitoring tools and platforms like Splunk, Cisco Prime Collaboration Assurance, or IR Prognosis.
- Familiarity with cloud-based voice platforms (e.g., Webex Calling, Microsoft Teams Voice) and migration strategies.
