The Role
This is a pivotal leadership role at the heart of one of the ABC's regional newsrooms. As Editor, ABC Pilbara, you will set the editorial direction, shape daily and long-term coverage, and drive high-impact journalism across digital,audioand social platforms.
Based in Karratha, you will lead a passionate team of content makers, providing clear editorial vision,guidanceand support to ensure the newsroom consistently delivers distinctive, audience-focused storytelling. You'llchampioncommunity-focusedjournalism, build strong local contacts, and ensure local content contributes meaningfully to state and national coverage.

The Job
* Drive editorial planning, content gathering and production across digital,audioand social platforms.
* Lead,mentorand develop the ABC Pilbara team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
* Identifystrong local stories and share them across ABC News teams nationally.
* Manage local emergency coverage plans and coordinate with relevant stakeholders.
* Support community engagement initiatives and help deliver local and national projects that connect with audiences.
* Implement initiatives to enhance efficiency in staffing,rosteringand resource allocation.
* Produce journalism that reflects the cultural,geographicandsocioeconomic diversity of the broader Australian community.
