Your new role :
The Lead / Senior Safety Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end engineering process and technical authorisations related to system safety.
You will support the Safety Case Manager in creating the in-service Safety Management System (SMS) and ensuring the key elements of the System Safety Program Plan (SSPP) are effectively embedded and operational across the Enterprise.
Reporting to the Compliance Assurance Manager, your responsibilities include :
* Delivering services independently on system safety deliverables
* Maintaining the System Safety Program
* Coordinating System Safety activities within the Transition Support Period
* Leading hazard identification, assessment, and mitigation strategies alongside the Safety Case Manager
* Maintaining the Project's Hazard Log and related documentation
* Managing Hazardous Chemical and Problematic Source registers, including Hazard Risk Assessments, and integrating them into the Defence ChemAlert system
* Preparing reports on the Project's system safety status
* Collaborating with Defence personnel and Enterprise teams to foster a safety-conscious culture
About you :
Ideal candidate qualifications :
* Experience in System safety engineering
* Degree in Safety or engineering disciplines, with eligibility for Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Australia
* Deep knowledge of Systems Engineering frameworks in Defence contracts
* Experience managing Hazardous Chemicals
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
