Urgent Care Clinic GP opportunity Cairns - extended opening hours, weekdays 8am – 10pm and Saturday and Sunday 9am – 6pm.
We are seeking experienced Urgent Care GPs, and GPs with Emergency Department experience, for the Cairns South Medicare Urgent Care Clinic located Edmonton, Cairns.
Key requirements:
The practitioner best suited to engage us will have a strong background in general practice, with a passion for providing high-quality, patient-centred care. You will hold a current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Specialist General Practitioner and have experience in urgent care or emergency medicine.
* FRACGP or FACRRM
* Advanced Skills Training in Emergency Medicine preferred
* Basic Life Support (BLS) or advanced life support (ALS) preferred
* Available weekend Saturday and Sunday 9am – 6pm on a rotating roster basis
* Evening shifts also available
About the Urgent Care Facility
The clinic is intended to provide short term, episodic care for urgent conditions that are not immediately life-threatening. It is purpose-designed for Urgent Care, and has the following features:
* Dedicated Nursing and Administration support
* Private urgent care triage room
* Dedicated treatment beds
* Private GP consult room
* Designed for ambulance and low-mobility access
* Security and duress alarm systems
* A designated resuscitation area with defibrillator, airway management equipment8, ECG machine, mobile bed, IV fluid resuscitation equipment, and emergency medications
* A dedicated area for treating fractures and plastering
* On-site parking
* Shared facilities including meeting rooms and tea rooms.
The Cairns South Urgent Care Clinic is equipped to treat problems including:
* Minor illnesses (including respiratory illness, gastrointestinal illness, urinary tract infections and sexually transmitted infections)
* Minor injuries including closed fractures, simple lacerations, simple eye injuries and minor burns
* Wound management including gluing, suturing and dressings (including for minor burns)
* Incision and drainage of abscesses
* Basic fracture management including application of backslabs and plasters
* Intravenous cannula insertion to allow for IV antibiotics and IV rehydration fluids
* Urinary catheter management and changes for males and females
* Removal of foreign bodies from the ear and nose
* Onsite imaging and Ultrasound (coming soon)
