The Role
Working closely with the Head of Learning Area and teaching staff, you would assist in the planning and delivery of curriculum-aligned practical activities by preparing materials, setting up experiments, and offering expert advice on demonstrations that enhance student learning. Your responsibilities would also include the care of living organisms, ensuring safe and compliant use of chemicals and biological materials, and maintaining a clean and organised laboratory environment.
The successful applicant should manage laboratory stocks, source and order supplies, and coordinate repairs and maintenance of scientific equipment. You would play a key role in overseeing safety procedures, providing inductions to new staff and Level 1 Technicians, and contributing to the efficient running of the science budget. Your practical knowledge, attention to detail and collaborative approach will help ensure the science learning area operates smoothly and safely to support engaging classroom experiences.

* Demonstrated experience working within a science laboratory, including knowledge of laboratory techniques and relevant safety and legislative requirements.
* Demonstrated knowledge of science subjects relevant to the curriculum taught in secondary schools and the ability to design and construct experiments and equipment to support curriculum requirements.
* Demonstrated good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
* Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and ability to work independently.
* Demonstrated well developed keyboarding and computer skills including a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and word processing
