Primary objective

Provides appropriate, sound clinical and professional care which affects the work processes, services, and clients of the

speciality service.

Context statement

As a member of the multidisciplinary outreach team, this position works collaboratively to provide child and family clinical

leadership and expert advice to remote based staff and community organisations to improve the health of children and

families in an individual, sensitive and culturally appropriated manner: through monitoring, education, training and health

promotion. Ability and willingness to travel to remote areas on a regular basis by road, light plane or ferry and stay for up to

a week is required. Applicants must be eligible to obtain an NT drivers licence.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Applies specialist knowledge, skills, attributes and abilities within a defined practice area in therapeutic and professional

relationships with individuals, as well as with families, groups and communities.

2. Is recognised by the team for this expertise and is a resource for others.

3. Accountable for providing sound professional advice and for assessment, planning, review, evaluation and coordination

of comprehensive client care and/or case management within the speciality area.

4. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being

undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

5. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.

2. Demonstrated highly-developed specialist clinical knowledge and skill, including problem identification and solution,

analysis and interpretation of clinical data, and implementation of innovative and effective client care.

3. Demonstrate and promote a learning environment through clinical support, instruction, and feedback including

mentoring students, graduates and less experienced staff across the multidisciplinary team.

4. Experience contributing to the development and implementation of local/regional policy, including interpreting

established professional precedents and organisational policies and supporting change management.

5. Demonstrated use of effective communication skills to influence and convince staff and clients including sensitive

matters requiring tact and diplomacy, for example to accept a difficult situation or negotiate conflict resolution.

Desirable

1. Graduate Diploma beyond entry-to-practice in specialty.

undergo a criminal history check. A criminal history will not exclude an applicant from this position unless it is relevant to

the position. This role carries specific immunisation requirements. To be eligible for appointment you will be required to
