About the role Mater’s Inpatient Billing team has an exciting internal opportunity for a SME and Quality Officer to join the team! This is a maximum term, 9-month parental leave opportunity based at Newstead. Reporting to the Patient Billing Manager, the SME and Quality Officer will ensure streamlined and successful operations for processing payments and promptly collecting outstanding debts. Salary range: $54.57 - $59.38 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 access to many staff benefits! What you’ll be doing The key responsibilities of this position include: Develop, review, and define procedures and standards for inpatient invoicing and debt management Implement and evaluate improvement strategies to address deficiencies Collaborate with other departments to enhance internal processes and prevent revenue loss Review inpatient billing for audit and education purposes Manage Eclipse issues Ensure accurate billing of patients, health funds, and third-party insurers to maximize revenue Communicate with various stakeholders regarding hospital fees and charges Follow up on outstanding debt from health funds, insurers, and patients in accordance with the Debt Management Policy Balance invoices and process adjustments and write-offs as necessary Manage relationship with external debt collection agency About you The successful candidate will have a minimum 5 years' experience in health fund billing and debtor management, in addition to the following: Extensive experience in health fund inpatient billing and debt recovery Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to meet deadlines Demonstrated reliability, integrity and confidentiality Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Proficient in complex financial conversations with patients Excellent communication skills, both over the phone and in person In-depth knowledge of HPPA's structure, application, and changes Team player with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team Flexible and able to multitask effectively Why join us?
