Job Title: Electrical Engineering Technician
About the Job:
The successful applicant will be responsible for the installation, modification, maintenance and repair of electrical engineering instruments and control systems used in a commercial piggery farm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing and conducting tests of electrical systems
- Preparing charts and tabulations
- Assisting in estimation of costs in support of Electrical Engineers for all farming and livestock production systems, equipment, and facilities
- Checking, maintaining and repairing electrical instrument/control systems and equipment located in piggery farm units with a focus on water supply/drippers, feed systems (electrical sow feeder system) and electrical environmental control systems.
- Ensuring electrical instrument/control systems and equipment located in piggery farm unit's uptime is achieved by effective and efficient preventative maintenance and repairs on all control systems.
- Liaising with Piggery Unit Manager on planned upgrades and maintenance schedules for instrument/control systems.
- Examining and testing electrical engineering equipment, instruments, and control systems to troubleshoot and diagnose faults.
- Adjusting, repairing, and replacing worn/defective parts and maintaining control systems, equipment, and instruments.
- Conducting and recording product tests and diagnostic activities to support piggery environmental controls and the production process.
- Installing, upgrading, modifying, and calibrating electrical engineering instrument/control systems.
- Maintaining a high level of quality control in accordance with the quality assurance standards; with a focus on continual improvement of all electrical engineering instrument/control systems.
- Ensuring any non-compliances that may affect the safety and integrity of electrical engineering instrument/control systems are reported.
- Other duties as requested by management that are within your expertise and skill set.
Requirements:
* A minimum diploma level qualification in electrical or electronics control systems or related area
* A minimum 1 year relevant and related work experience with electrical engineering and control systems
* Demonstrated safety leadership in the past and ability to maintain a safe and healthy workplace
* Experience working in a farming environment, with exposure in intensive animal production an advantage
* Demonstrated expertise in the hands-on delivery of both scheduled and emergency maintenance
* Capability to assist with and develop yearly budget planning including shed and equipment upgrades
* Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel an advantage
