Overview
12 month minimum contract to fire prototype explosives being researched by the Department of Defence. For an explosives handling expert interested in helping Defence develop more effective explosives.
About the Employer
You'll be working with the R&D department for the Department of Defence (Defence Science Technology Group, DTSG) in Edinburgh. DSTG is currently supporting research into guided weapons prototyping.
Responsibilities
* When authorised, perform specific types of firings including: intentional functioning of detonators, high explosive charges, pyrotechnic devices, rocket motors or weapons, gas guns, propellant charges.
* Prepare weapons, firing systems and/or explosive charges as appropriate.
* Assist in the maintenance of laboratories and equipment.
* Assist in the preparation and review of risk assessments and process documentation.
Requirements and Compensation
* Relevant Experience: Explosive Ordnance qualifications or relevant industry training and experience.
* Australian Citizenship essential (for security clearances).
* Contract: 12 month full‐time contract, with potential to extend.
* Pay: Based on experience.
Core Competencies
* Storage, handling and firing of explosive ordnance.
* Handling and preparation of explosive devices and charges.
* Ability to work as part of a multi‐disciplinary team.
* Basic electronics knowledge, including understanding of firing and instrumentation systems used with explosive ordnance.
Qualifications
Relevant Defence EO qualification, similar to an Army Ammunition Technician or relevant industry training and/or experience. Must be an Australian Citizen (ESSENTIAL).
