OverviewGraphic Design and Digital CoordinatorAPS Level 6Canberra, Melbourne or BrisbaneThe Australian Climate Service is seeking a Graphic Design and Digital Coordinator.Reporting to the Communications Lead, this position will support the work of the Communications Program, making climate and risk information accessible and understandable for the service's key users and other stakeholders.The Graphic Design and Digital Coordinator will produce high quality and engaging design products and materials (both printed and digital) from what is often highly complex information, such as data, maps, climate risk insights and intelligence.While the primary function will be graphic design, support for the ACS' digital channels, including the website, will at times be required.
Flexibility and agility will be highly valued in this role.The workplace you work within is very supportive and enables you to grow and learn and to make the role your own.Role responsibilitiesThe responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:Provide strategic advice and support: Provide advice and support to strengthen ACS' brand design elements.
Develop products to support an uplift to the brand suite, including templates, letterheads, digital assets, colour palette, maps, imagery and logos.Design and develop engaging material and visualisations: work with subject matter experts and Communications staff to develop material for ACS reports, brochures, factsheets, placemats, social media tiles, and infographics.
Basic animation skills would be helpful.Translate complex scientific concepts and findings: work with subject matter experts and Communications staff to visualise and translate information into clear and understandable content.Provide design expertise: Bring a strong proficiency with design tools to the ACS to provide advice and support to ACS communications including InDesign, Adobe and Microsoft design and editing suites and Canva.
Capabilities in ESRI (Story Maps and content management) would be helpful but not essential.Manage the ACS' design portal: Work with the ACS Channel Manager to manage an inhouse design Portal via SharePoint, ensuring that all relevant ACS design files are accessible, organised, shared and securely stored in accordance with the Bureau's data, document and record management policies and procedures.Commitment to APS Values, Employment Principles and Code of Conduct and understanding of the Bureau's diversity and inclusion statement of commitment and the Bureau way.Complying with all Bureau work, health and safety policies and procedures, and taking reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of employees, contractors and visitors who may be affected by your conduct.Application detailsApplication Closing Date: Wednesday, 8 October 2024For further information please review the position description on /
