About the Role
Development Services plays a pivotal role in enabling sustainable growth across the Sunshine Coast. The Branch partners closely with industry to deliver timely, customer‑focused assessment services across planning, engineering, environment, landscape, building and plumbing.
As a Development Engineer, you will provide specialist engineering advice and assessment expertise to support high‑quality development outcomes across the region. You'll play a key role in ensuring applications align with legislation, technical standards and Council's growth and sustainability objectives. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the future of one of Australia's fastest‑growing regions while working in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide technical engineering advice and assess development applications, ensuring legislative, policy and standards compliance.
* Manage and negotiate on a range of development applications, delivering timely, customer‑focused outcomes.
* Undertake research and provide guidance on civil engineering matters such as flooding, stormwater, traffic, earthworks and WSUD.
* Prepare high‑quality reports, correspondence and recommendations on engineering and construction aspects of development proposals.
About you
You bring a recognised tertiary qualification in civil engineering and the capability to apply your technical knowledge in a practical, real‑world context.
You're confident working in a political and multidisciplinary environment, building positive relationships and navigating complex stakeholder needs.
You enjoy balancing autonomy with collaboration and thrive in an environment that encourages knowledge sharing, continuous learning and professional growth.
You're a strong communicator with analytical problem‑solving skills and the ability to deliver high‑quality work within deadlines using modern business technologies.
