Environmental Health Officer

About the Role:
* Conduct inspections of food premises and public health venues to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
* Enforce health and safety regulations by promoting awareness and educating stakeholders.
* Prepare detailed reports after inspections and investigations to inform decision-making and drive improvement.
* Engage with management, community groups, and authorities to promote healthy standards and practices.
* Advise on environmental health issues like land capability, drainage, and wastewater systems to support informed decision-making.
* Support public education campaigns around health and safety to raise awareness and promote behaviour change.
* Manage complaints and mediate conflicts related to community health through effective communication and negotiation skills.
Requirements:
* A minimum of several years' experience as an Environmental Health Officer in Victoria, with strong knowledge of health legislation and compliance enforcement.
* Experience in health management, ideally with broader environmental issues, such as land capability assessments and waste management.
* Qualification in EHO training or HACCP certification to demonstrate expertise and commitment.
* Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders, including management, community groups, and authorities.
* A strong ability to enforce regulations tactfully and diplomatically, balancing compliance with stakeholder engagement.
* A current Victorian driver's licence and eligibility to work in Australia are essential.
* Membership or eligibility to join Environmental Health Australia is highly regarded.
