Assistant Accountant Location: Mascot Hybrid (2 to 3 days WFH) About the Role Join a dynamic and collaborative professional services finance team of six in a hands-on Assistant Accountant role reporting directly to the CFO. This is a broad position offering strong exposure across accounts receivable, month-end, reporting, and payroll within a supportive and fast-paced environment. You will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful process improvement initiatives, including enhancing reporting and driving efficiencies through the use of automation and AI tools. This role is ideal for an Assistant Accountant with a strong Accounts Receivable background who is looking to grow, expand their skillset, and take on broader finance responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Accounts Receivable, Revenue & Cash Management End-to-end management of accounts receivable, including high-volume invoicing Posting and issuing customer invoices and maintaining accurate account records Managing the full AR cycle, including collections and stakeholder follow-ups Monitoring, receipting, and reconciling incoming payments Performing daily bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies Calculating revenue-based commissions and reconciling revenue streams Managing refunds, inbox queries, and unallocated receipts Reconciling AR subledger to the general ledger Month-End, Reporting & Finance Support Assist with month-end close, including reconciliations and reporting Prepare AR reports (ageing, outstanding balances) Support management reporting, analysis, and variance commentary Provide ad hoc reporting for management and business units. Payroll exposure & Process improvements Assist with fortnightly payroll processing when required (training provided) Exposure to superannuation, payroll tax, and multi-state compliance (training provided) Contribute to system and process improvement initiatives. About You First experience as an Assistant Accountant/Strong background in Accounts Receivable, including reconciliations and collections and ready to step up into a broader role Excellent communication skills and ability to manage stakeholders effectively High attention to detail and strong analytical capability CPA/CA qualified or working towards qualification preferred Motivated to learn, grow, and contribute to a developing business What's in it for you?
