Overview
CITIC Pacific Mining is seeking a Geological Technician to join our team at the Sino Iron Project. This role presents an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to contribute to geological, hydrogeological, and geotechnical programs within a large-scale mining operation. This is a permanent opportunity on an 8/6 roster, FIFO from Perth.
Responsibilities
* Collect geological, hydrogeological, and geotechnical data to a high standard, including samples and spatial data.
* Monitor ore excavation to maximize recovery and minimize dilution.
* Assist in near-mine resource drilling campaigns, including management, preparation, execution, storage, and remediation.
* Perform groundwater and surface water data collection and compilation.
* Operate and maintain groundwater and surface water equipment.
* Assist with geotechnical field programs, including highwall mapping and installation of monitoring equipment.
* Maintain and organise geology consumables, equipment, and work areas.
* Provide general support to the mine geology, hydrogeology, and geotechnical teams.
Qualifications & Skills
* Experience working in a similar role in an open pit mining environment.
* Current manual drivers' licence and forklift licence (essential).
* Enthusiastic and eager to learn all aspects of geological sampling, QA/QC, and ore loss/dilution processes.
* Understanding of the impact that poor geological data can have on operations.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
