Overview
Bulls N’ Bears is seeking an experienced financial markets professional with exceptional writing abilities to take on the role of Deputy Editor. This position is based at The West Australian Newspaper offices in Osborne Park, Perth, reporting to the Managing Director.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Bulls N Bears editorial team and oversee all ASX-listed company news articles published online across multiple mainstream newspapers in Australia, including The West Australian, The Business News, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, and The Brisbane Times.
- Research and prepare for radio interviews with ASX-listed company CEOs for airing on 6PR (Perth), 3AW (Melbourne), 2GB (Sydney), and 4BC (Brisbane).
- Contribute to the launch of the in-studio video interview podcast series by researching and assembling show material and securing interviewees.
- Edit and augment the work of senior analysts and journalists; identify and initiate profile pieces on ASX-listed companies.
- Engage with CEOs of public companies as a peer within the small-cap space and represent Bulls N Bears professionally across sectors including mining, health tech, agriculture, technology, and biotechnology.
Qualifications and Skills
- Solid background in financial markets or investor relations; writing experience is advantageous.
- Exceptional grammatical skills and a unique turn of phrase with strong “cut through” writing ability.
- Excellent understanding of public markets and public companies; ability to converse with senior management.
- Experience in geology or mining writing is a plus.
- Experience as a stockbroker, journalist, editor, analyst, or PR/IR specialist is desirable.
Role Details
This is a full-time, Perth-based role with direct responsibility for the Bulls N Bears editorial team.
Applicants from other Australian states will be considered; some moving expenses may be reimbursed.
Salary for the role is in the six-figure range and will be commensurate with public markets and writing experience.
