Senior technical support lead

Our client, a leading Financial Services organisation seeks an experienced Technical Support Lead, to lead the application support team, ensuring effective operation, maintenance and support of all cloud-based applications. You will oversee the team's day-day activities as well as provide level 2 support to a major platform build/migration. You will support the project across all activities including documentation, build, testing, and planning of all support tasks needed to meet the project deliverables. You will implement the workflow for the incident, problem, release, and change management to support the replacement system.

Role objectives.

* Provide lvl 2 on-going project support and go-live operational readiness for the new platform build.
* Lead and mentor a team of application support analysts, ensuring that processes and SLA's are adhered to.
* AWS Management – utilise AWS services [EC2, S3, EDS, Lambda etc] to manage applications.
* Monitor and optimize cloud resources to ensure cost effectiveness and scalability while implementing best security practises.
* Responsible for technical support across Java based applications on AWS Cloud Infrastructure.
* Create and implement routine tasks, daily checklists, reporting guidelines, and BCP testing.
* Maintain all technical documentation required for operational support.
* Comply with best practise frameworks i.e. ITIL & Cobit.
* Out of hours/shift work may be required on occasion.

Experience required.

* Minimum of 10 years' experience supporting business-critical & Cloud based applications - [AWS].
* Strong background in Linux - Unix O/S, admin level.
* background experience in containerisation (e.g. Docker or K8s) admin and deployment platforms
* Strong background in scripting, Perl, Python, or Bash.
* Proficient in SQL and relational databases, MySQL and or PostgreSQL.
* Strong DevOps mindset.
* Experience in Atlassian – JIRA/Confluence.
* Experience in non-functional testing and BCP/DR planning.
* Exposure to Agile practices, daily scrums
* Experience in the ServiceNow platform – ITSM.
* Experience in or strong understanding of financial services/domains – clearing & settlements, payment systems is highly advantageous.
* A can-do attitude with the ability to adapt to new and emerging technology stacks.
