Cook
Blayney Multi Purpose Service

About the role
Blayney Multi Purpose Service is currently undergoing an exciting redevelopment. We are seeking suitably experienced cook to join our close knit kitchen team.
The B Grade Cook is an integral member of the healthcare team at Blayney MPS, contributing to the delivery of high-quality food services that support the health and wellbeing of patients and residents. In this role, the cook is responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious meals that meet dietary requirements while ensuring a consistently high standard of food quality. The position also involves assisting kitchen staff with food preparation and menu implementation, delivering meals to patients and residents, and collecting trays following meal service to maintain efficient workflow and patient comfort.
A strong understanding of food safety and hygiene is essential, as the role requires maintaining clean and safe kitchen practices at all times. Daily duties typically include reviewing menus, sourcing ingredients from refrigerators and freezers, preparing and cooking meals, and ensuring that kitchen areas and equipment are cleaned and maintained. The cook works collaboratively with other kitchen and hospital staff, supporting colleagues as needed and following the direction of management and senior team members to ensure smooth service delivery.
The position operates on a roster from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, seven days per week, with working days & shifts determined by the roster. The kitchen forms part of a small and supportive team of 11 staff, including hospital assistants and a cook on each shift, who work closely together to provide quality service to patients and residents.
Blayney is a small but growing rural town, and the team at Blayney MPS prides itself on being close-knit, collaborative and committed to delivering excellent patient and resident care. The health service is currently in the process of constructing a new hospital that will provide modern, state-of-the-art facilities for both residents and staff.
The successful applicant will work closely with a range of hospital departments including nursing staff, the Health Service Manager, administration, dietitians and other hospital assistants. Blayney MPS offers a well-structured orientation program for new staff, including supported supernumerary time and dedicated opportunities to complete mandatory training requirements. As part of a team of healthcare professionals, the organisation is committed to supporting staff to deliver excellence in care through ongoing education and opportunities to develop skills and knowledge.
