A NSW government agency is seeking an experienced Principal Business and Financial Analyst to lead high-impact financial modelling and cost-benefit analysis across complex investment programs. This is a long-term contract role running through to March 2026.
You'll lead the development of business cases aligned with Treasury frameworks, manage financial modelling for strategic initiatives, and provide evidence-based advice to inform public investment decisions. The work is analytical and stakeholder-facing — you'll engage across policy, project, and finance teams to deliver insights that shape funding outcomes.
What you'll do:
* Build and maintain advanced financial models using Excel
* Conduct cost-benefit analyses and calculate benefit-cost ratios
* Provide strategic financial advice on high-value programs
* Lead a small team of analysts and guide capability uplift
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including Treasury
* Ensure consistency with NSW Government investment standards
What you'll bring:
* Tertiary qualifications in finance or accounting
* Full CA or CPA accreditation
* Strong background in financial modelling and scenario planning
* Experience in public sector investment frameworks or large organisations
* High-level written communication and stakeholder management skills
* Political neutrality and ability to obtain a clear police check
This is a strategic contract position suited to a commercially minded public sector finance leader.
