About the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission:

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the Commission) was formed on 1 January 2019. We work to improve the lives of older people by maintaining the integrity of the aged care system.

As the single independent regulator of Australian Government aged care services, we offer a variety of interesting and challenging jobs across most capital cities.

It is an exciting time to join the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, with major reforms underway to improve aged care in Australia. You will be contributing to our role as the national regulator to safeguard and protect older Australians receiving aged care services.

About the Team:

The Audit function is responsible for monitoring and assessing approved providers' compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards by undertaking accreditation and reaccreditation audits of residential aged care services, completion of Quality Reviews of Home Services and flexible aged care services. The audit operations team schedules audits and provides administrative support to the team to enable those audits.

The Audit team gathers consumer feedback on care and services and uses this to inform audits. Audit manages identified risk through a Risk Assessment and Response Plan (RARP), referring issues to the Risk Intake & Analysis (RIA) team as needed. Audit also engages extensively with stakeholders and collaborates internally across the Commission and the Regulatory Operations Division.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Director, Audit, the Assistant Director, Audit Operations is responsible for leading, guiding and managing an Operations team, within the broader Audit section, to coordinate scheduling, travel arrangements and deliver administrative support to enable the effective execution of audit activities.

An ongoing (permanent) position is available with the possibility for Non-Ongoing (Temporary) positions via the merit pool for future vacancies.

Position duties include, but are not limited to:

* Lead and manage a geographically dispersed team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture through capability development, performance feedback, conflict resolution, and support with career development.
* Coordinate and oversee daily operations of the team to ensure activities are delivered in line with agreed priorities, regulatory requirements and Commission objectives.

* Develop and implement workforce strategies that support business continuity, balanced workload distribution and continuous improvement across the operations team.
* Oversee travel coordination, logistics, and administrative support, ensuring operational activities proceed as planned and scheduling challenges are proactively resolved.
* Lead effective communication with providers and stakeholders, ensuring timely progression of regulatory activities and quality assurance in the exchange, recording and storage of information.
* Collaborate across the Regulatory Operations Division and broader operations function to implement the audit program, align activities with organisational priorities and contribute to performance reporting and continuous improvement.
* Maintain oversight of audit and accreditation decision-making performance to support the Director, Audit in anticipating and reallocating decisions to ensure compliance with legislative obligations.
* Exercise professional judgement and informed decision-making to identify and assess operational risks, contribute to strategic planning and ensure the effective delivery of regulatory activities.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders to support collaborative regulation, enhance sector confidence in the Commission's role, and represent the Commission in relevant forums, working groups, and inter-agency initiatives.
* Lead project work and new operational initiatives to support the achievement of Commission priorities as required and support the Section and Director by guiding team through change.
* Salary offered will be between $118,588 - $135,251 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.
* Roles are offered on an Ongoing/Non-Ongoing basis, with Non-Ongoing roles offered for an initial period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of one extension up to an additional 12 months.
