BDM / Sales - Transport

Our client is a Perth local company specialising in customer focused Transport and Logistics solutions. Built from the ground up, their ability to make anything work for their customers has seen them become a trusted and reputable business within the industry. As natural growth continues, they are now in search of an experienced Salesperson / BDM to take control of their sales function, including strategy around customer acquisition and onboarding.

About the Role:Reporting to the Director and Business Manager, the role will provide the successful applicant the opportunity to build and grow a sales strategy based around their customer first, relationship approach. The day to day will include a mix of being on the road meeting face to face with potential customers to build relationships, and office-based activities such as contacting warm leads, quoting / proposal generation, and general follow ups.

A newly created role in a family like business environment, this is the perfect opportunity for someone currently working in a Sales / BDM job with a relationship-based approach who may be in an environment that is "pushy" or less client focused. As such, the decision has been made to provide a suitable base wage from day one, with a bonus structure to be developed with significant input from the successful applicant once they have settled in and understand the business and potential.

Scope of Work:The scope of the role may include but not be limited to the below.

* Responsible for bringing in new customers – generating millions in revenue (huge growth potential)
* Build a specific sales function that can be adopted by others as growth occurs
* Development of pricing strategies to maximise profits tailored to customer operations
* Ownership over tender proposals and relationships with major clients
* Working autonomously with support from key business figures
* Leveraging of existing industry relationships to bring in new clients or build future pipelines

Successful factors for this role:

* Experience in Sales / BDM roles – Transport industry preferred
* Natural relationship builder – not a snake oil salesman
* Strong decision-making capacity
* Confidence to independently develop sales function and strategies
* Operate in the best interests of client business and their customers
* Drive to maintain relationships and be the go-to for customers
* Strong communication skills and ability to influence multiple personality types
* Leadership mentality would be a large plus – the future may include managing teams as the growth takes shape
* Existing relationships within the transport industry will be looked upon very favourably
