The site operates a fast-paced, 24/7 production environment with advanced machinery, automated equipment, and strict food safety standards. The maintenance team plays a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, production uptime, and the safe operation of plant assets as the site continues to grow and optimise.
The Position
Seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to work Afternoon shift, providing hands-on mechanical maintenance support across production, packaging, and site services.
This role operates across the afternoon shift and suits a self-motivated tradesperson who can work autonomously in a busy manufacturing environment.
Key responsibilities include:
* Responding to mechanical breakdowns to minimise production downtime
* Completing scheduled preventive maintenance in line with CMMS plans
* Troubleshooting mechanical faults and escalating issues where required
* Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and small projects
* Working collaboratively with production, electrical, and maintenance teams
* Completing all maintenance documentation accurately in the CMMS
* Maintaining compliance with GMP, food safety, quality, and HSE requirements
Skills and Experience
Essential:
* Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or Fitter & Turner
* Proven maintenance experience in FMCG, food manufacturing, or similar environments
* Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently on night shift with minimal supervision
* Experience using CMMS systems such as SAP, MEX, Pronto, or similar
* Sound understanding of GMP, HACCP, and food safety requirements
Desirable:
* Experience with automated production lines, packaging equipment, conveyors, pneumatics, and hydraulics
* Forklift licence, Working at Heights, or Confined Space certification
* Exposure to continuous improvement, Lean, or reliability practices
