We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our thriving team at Salerno Law' in Varsity Lakes, Queensland. This position will be between 3 - 5 days depending on your skill set. You will play a crucial role in supporting our growing legal practice by maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards.
What you'll be doing
* Management Accounts:Prepare and maintain monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
* Payroll Management:Process and manage payroll for the firm's staff, ensuring compliance with all relevant awards and regulations.
* HR Support:Assist with employee records and HR administration tasks related to payroll including drafting contracts.
* Trust Account Compliance:Ensure compliance with the Queensland Law Society's regulations regarding trust accounts and prepare necessary reports. Assisting external auditors half yearly.
* Accounts Payable:Manage accounts payable, including reviewing and processing invoices and ensuring timely payments to suppliers.
* Superannuation Lodgment:Oversee superannuation contributions and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
* Trust Account Payments:Payment of trust monies to beneficiaries in accordance with the Queensland Law Society's guidelines.
* Payroll Tax:Manage payroll tax calculations and ensure timely lodgment of half yearly returns.
* BAS & STP Reporting:Prepare and lodge BAS (Business Activity Statements) and Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting in accordance with ATO requirements.
* Other Financial Duties:Provide general financial support to senior management and assist with budget preparation and forecasting.
Key Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
* Strong knowledge of Queensland Law Society trust account regulations and requirements.
* Proficiency with accounting software (Xero, and Microsoft Excel).
* High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and organisational skills.
* Strong understanding of payroll processes, superannuation, BAS, and STP reporting.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Relevant qualifications in accounting or bookkeeping (Certificate IV in Accounting or similar).
* A proactive and team-oriented attitude.
