About the Opportunity
Dietitians Australia is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified professionals to join the Dietitian and Nutritionist Regulation Council (DNRC) as an External/Independent Member.
The DNRC plays a critical role in protecting the public by regulating the dietetics profession and ensuring practitioner competence, safety and ethical practice. This includes oversight of accreditation, professional standards, complaints management and course credentialling.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute independent expertise to strengthen regulatory governance and support high standards across the profession.
Key Responsibilities
As an External Member, you will contribute to:
* Practitioner accreditation and skills recognition
* Course credentialling and accreditation standards
* Professional conduct, complaints management and disciplinary processes
* Regulatory policy development and continuous improvement
* Monitoring regulatory developments and emerging risks
About You
You will bring:
* Experience in governance, compliance or regulatory environments
* Knowledge of accreditation, credentialling or professional standards frameworks
* Experience in complaints handling, conduct or disciplinary processes
* Strong critical thinking and sound decision-making capability
Desirable Experience
* Health practitioner regulation or regulated professions
* Legal, regulatory or public policy expertise
* Experience in consumer protection or public interest roles
* Higher education accreditation or quality standards frameworks
* Engagement with government or regulatory bodies
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
* Not be a member of Dietitians Australia
* Not be a practising dietitian
* Be able to provide independent and objective expertise
* Have experience in regulatory practice or a closely aligned field
Commitment
* Minimum six meetings per year (generally virtual)
* Participation in additional meetings as required
* Attendance at an annual full-day planning session
* Preparation and review of regulatory materials
Remuneration
An honorarium will be provided.
Term
Appointments are typically for a three year term, with potential for renewal.
