Key to this role is providing strategic legal guidance across the organization. You will drive legal strategy, serving as a trusted partner to senior leadership and business unit leaders.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Strategic Legal Guidance: Support the Chief Legal Officer in providing comprehensive legal advice to drive business objectives.
* Human Resources & Employment Law: Advise on employment-related matters including performance management, workplace investigations, terminations, internal policy development, and compliance with federal and state labor laws.
* Contract Negotiation & Management: Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts with a focus on vendor agreements, technology contracts, and service arrangements.
* Consumer Data Protection: Ensure the company's compliance with various privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR and CCPA.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with teams across the business to identify and address legal risks, support transactions, and ensure adherence to applicable laws and company policies.
Requirements:
* JD from an accredited law school.
* Minimum of 8 years of experience post-law school, with preference given to those who have 2–3 years of in-house legal counsel experience or equivalent.
* Experience in consumer financial services or similar regulated industry.
* Demonstrated experience working across HR/legal domains and supporting the HR function.
