Cummins Drivetrain and Braking Systems (Meritor Heavy Vehicle Systems Australia Limited) based in Sunshine North Victoria, is seeking expressions of interest in the following role.
Role Purpose
The Material Planner is responsible for analysing, planning, and optimising material and information flows to ensure that supply meets demand in line with production and customer requirements. This role evaluates supplier performance, forecasts demand, monitors inventory and drives continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain. The position requires strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with business objectives
The role also requires positive computer skills as well as being highly organised and reliable. Knowledge of MRP usage in manufacturing industry, analytical skills are essential to be successful for the role. The role requires great knowledge of production, operations, processes and management.
Salary Range AUD 85,000 to AUD 95,000 plus superannuation
Key Tasks include.
· Analyse sales forecasts, customer orders, and historical usage trends to prepare supply plans.
· MRP Analysis to evaluate supplier lead times, supplier capacities, transit leadtimes to prepare master schedule
· Monitor material availability and develop strategies to prevent shortages and excess inventory.
· MRP Analysis to evaluate shipping dates, in transit material and stock on hand to prepare critical shortage list, recommend changes as required.
· Inventory Management and inventory classification, by using ABC analysis
· Conduct regular reviews of inventory holdings, turns, and excess & obsolete (E&O;) stock.
· Prepare analytical reports and recommend corrective actions to align inventory with annual budget.
· Partner with suppliers to resolve shortages, improve delivery reliability, and reduce premium freight. Including leading alternative material options to mitigate shortages.
· MRP analysis to evaluate current and future demand compared to supplier past due deliveries to prepare target past due escalation reports
· Identify process gaps and inefficiencies across the supply chain and recommend improvements.
· Lead or participate in supply chain transformation initiatives, including system upgrades and data quality improvements.
· Support DMO (Direct Material Optimisation) activities, ensuring alignment of planning with production and manage transition to new suppliers.
· Lead proactive communication with Production, Sales, and Logistics teams to ensure smooth material flow.
· Present analysis and recommendations to management for informed decision-making.
· Responsibility to communicate with customers regarding any change to delivery dates due to material related issues.
· Responsible to mentor and train new supply planner and supply Co-Ordinator in supply chain activities.
Financial Performance
· Managing Inventory levels in line with customer forecast & Sales Targets
· Ensuring Supplier Performance to meet Customer demand and KPI targets
· Increasing Inventory performance by regular analysis (Including supporting reduction in E&O;)
· Leading meetings with operations and actioning exception messages, shortage reports
· Improve the overall business profitably on the total cost of material ownership including “smart” supplier scheduling, optimized logistics, effective material planning & being innovative on the obsolescence of inventories
Education/Certifications
· Qualification in Business or Relevant Industry Experience
· Qualification in Financial Analysis or Relevant Industry Experience
· Qualification in Supply chain or Relevant Industry Experience specific to use of MRP in manufacturing industry
Required Skills & Knowledge
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with advanced Excel/QAD/MRP system capability.
· Knowledge of supply chain planning, forecasting, and supplier performance management.
· Excellent communication skills and ability to partner across multiple business functions

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
