About the Role
The Senior Engagement Officer leads the design, coordination and delivery of high-quality community engagement platforms and activities that support transparent, inclusive and evidence-informed decision making.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and implementing engagement plans for strategic projects and policy initiatives.
* Facilitating workshops, pop-ups, and digital engagement activities tailored for diverse audiences.
* Providing specialist advice and coaching to uplift engagement capability across Council.
* Preparing reports and insights that translate community feedback into actionable recommendations.
* Building strong relationships with internal teams, community groups, and external partners.
About the Team
Our Stakeholder Experience team works across Council to deliver inclusive and transparent engagement. We collaborate on projects and initiatives that strengthen community trust and ensure Launceston's diverse voices are heard.
About You
We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:
* Tertiary qualification in Engagement, Communications, Social Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
* A minimum of 3 years' experience designing, delivering and facilitating community, stakeholder or public engagement activities.
* Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with confidence in public settings and the ability to facilitate workshops and conversations.
* Demonstrated ability to interpret community feedback, identify risks and themes, and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
* Understanding of inclusive and accessible engagement principles, with experience tailoring approaches for diverse audiences.
* Current Driver's Licence and Working with Vulnerable People Registration.
* IAP2 certification (or willingness to obtain) is desirable.
