Community Occupational Therapist (NDIS) Hobart

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Community Occupational Therapist who will broadly work with participants living with permanent and significant disability on the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme).
You will assist participants with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) to enable them to lead an empowered and independent life, increase safe participation in the community and to achieve the goals set out in their NDIS plan.
You will empower participants and engage them in the occupations that bring meaning and purpose to their lives, this will be achieved by working with participants to enhance their ability to engage in the occupations they want, require, or are expected to do; or by modifying the occupation or the environment to better support their capacity and engagement.
The role of Community Occupational Therapist (NDIS), will be based in Hobart, working Part-time, 3 days a week.
The successful candidate will utilise their specialist knowledge and skills to provide assessment; independent living skills training and intervention strategies; recommendations and reports to clients, carers and their families.
You will:
* Assess NDIS participants’ capacity and develop tailored interventions and strategies
* Provide functional capacity assessments and progress reports
* Utilise standardised assessment tools and provide occupational therapy interventions to assist in better outcomes for participants
* Complete NDIS specific requirements including NDIA reports and assist with Service Agreements
* Maintain your skills with up-to-date knowledge of the NDIS systems and practices to support our participants
* Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, family, other providers and partners

What will you bring to the role?
* An approved degree from a recognised School of Occupational Therapy and eligibility for membership to the Occupational Therapy Association
* Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
* Commitment to participation and documentation of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) that is aligned with Australian Occupational Therapy Competency Standards and individual learning goals
* Commitment to ongoing clinical supervision
* Experience and demonstrated skills working with people with a disability
* Commitment to assisting people with a disability build skills and achieve their goals
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Excellent IT literacy, planning, coordination and time management
* An Understanding of the NDIS framework and its complexities
* Current drivers licence
* Ability to travel interstate to fulfill WISE OT services demands at a national level when required (max. once bi-monthly)
* Ability to provide a NDIS Workers Screening Check, ability to satisfy national police check and Working with Children Check requirements
