A leading national construction company is seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to oversee a landmark $30M development in Canberra. This role is critical in ensuring the project is delivered to the highest standards of quality while maintaining full compliance with all Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations.
Your new role
Reporting directly to the National WHS Manager and the on-site Site Manager, your responsibilities will be diverse and will include the following:
* Conduct site inductions and ensure all contractors are fully briefed on safety requirements.
* Prepare, assess, and update Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Partner with the Site Manager to identify and highlight onsite safety issues and improvements.
* Provide safety-related assistance to the project team as required.
* Ensure adherence to workplace health and safety legislation, codes of practice, and company policies.
What you'll need to succeed
* Demonstrated experience in construction safety either in a direct or indirect capacity
* Ideally, experience using Hammertech
* Familiarity with Australian workplace health and safety standards and compliance requirements.
* Ability to deliver clear inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
* Capable of responding to ad hoc safety issues and supporting the team effectively.
* Competence in maintaining accurate safety records and preparing reports.
* Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety is desirable but not essential
