Profectus is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator (Windows) to support the delivery and sustainment of a complex, accredited ICT environment within Defence. This role suits a hands-on administrator who thrives in structured, highly governed settings where security, reliability, and precision are non-negotiable. You will be embedded within a multidisciplinary systems team, contributing to the design, configuration, and ongoing operation of Windows-based infrastructure that underpins critical Defence training capability. Key ResponsibilitiesDeploy, support, and maintain Windows system components across a complex, secure ICT environmentManage domain services and network application protocols to ensure platform reliability and performanceOperate and administer core environment services including Domain Controllers, Active Directory, Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), and VMware virtualisation toolsAdminister user services including Microsoft Office and Exchange environmentsDevelop and maintain the Windows Standard Operating Environment, covering both desktop and server operating systemsTroubleshoot faults across the environment and engage constructively with peer technical teams to resolve issuesContribute technical documentation and design content to knowledge repositories, and provide input into policy, process, and procedure developmentApply ITIL Service Management principles including participation in Change Advisory Boards (CAB), implementation of approved changes, and use of service management toolsets for tasking and schedulingSupport designated training exercises as part of Technical Control and Simulation Control functions, including exercise planning, out-of-hours support, and shift work as requiredHandle classified information in accordance with Commonwealth policy, including the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) and Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM)Uphold Defence's obligations regarding Commonwealth Intellectual Property and international requirements including Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and ITARWork closely with cross-functional technical teams and contribute to project teams as directed
Required Experience5+ years of experience in systems administration, relevant military ICT experience, or a combination of bothDemonstrated expertise administering Windows environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Server, and Microsoft Configuration ManagerExperience with VMware or similar virtualisation platformsSolid understanding of domain services and network application protocolsProven ability to troubleshoot complex faults in enterprise or similarly regulated environmentsAbility to communicate effectively with technical peers and frontline IT leadershipUnrestricted ability to deploy to ADF military installations in support of training eventsTertiary degree or vocational qualifications in a relevant discipline
Desirable ExperienceITIL framework certificationExperience with storage and backup architecture and managementFamiliarity with ServiceNow or similar service management toolsetsExposure to CrowdStrike Falcon LogScale or other security monitoring platformsExperience working in or alongside Linux environmentsPrior experience working within Defence or similarly secure, highly regulated environments
Security RequirementsMust be an Australian Citizen with a minimum NV1 Security ClearanceNV2 Security Clearance is highly preferred
