Director - Business Transformation EY Defence
The opportunity
As our Director of Business Transformation in EY Defence youll lead our high-performing teams in solving the Department of Defences most complex challenges and driving business and performance improvement in the most challenging and critical government sector. This role is central to helping Defence implement the National Defence Strategy requiring a leader who is Defence-literate purpose-driven and capable of forging trust across the national security space.
EY Defence is EYs dedicated Defence Market Segment comprising professionals who have chosen to specialise in Defence and National Security. Our team is resourced by individuals with deep experience in Defences organisational context and challengesready to hit the ground running and deliver real results. With the necessary security clearances and technical skills EY Defence is equipped to help solve Defences hardest problems.
This is a hybrid position based in either in Naarm Melbourne Ngambri - Canberra or Warrang Sydney with regular travel to Ngambri - Canberra. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.
Your key responsibilities
* Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver strategic transformation programs that improve Defences ability to achieve its mission.
* Apply EYs Performance to Plan (P2P) methodology to drive productivity improvements and ensure inputs are managed for maximum benefit.
* Translate strategy into actionable operating models and transformation roadmaps.
* Engage with senior Defence stakeholders to co-create solutions that unlock value and increase performance.
* Mentor and uplift the skills of colleagues and contribute to EYs commitment to strengthening the Australian Public Service.
Skills and attributes for success
* Deep understanding of Business Transformation (BT) core skills and experience applying P2P in complex environments.
* Demonstrated leadership in Defence or national security contexts with the ability to navigate strategic and operational landscapes.
* Superior written and oral communication skills able to explain complex ideas in an accessible and compelling way.
* Experience in business architecture operating model design and process transformation.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills with a track record of building long-lasting client relationships.
* Familiarity with Agile Design Thinking Lean and technology-enabled transformation.
* Proven ability to lead proposals shape business growth strategies and manage complex project delivery.
* Passion for mentoring and developing talent with a commitment to public service capability uplift.
