Pierre Properties Pty Ltd, trading as Cactus Jack's and IMC Steak House, is seeking a qualified and experienced Chef (Chef de Partie) to join our professional kitchen team in South Townsville.
About the Role
The Chef will assist the Head Chef in the efficient and profitable running of the kitchen, ensuring all food produced meets company standards of quality, consistency, and hygiene. The position also involves guiding and training kitchen staff and maintaining customer satisfaction to the highest degree.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare, cook, and present a range of menu items within your section to a consistently high standard.
* Supervise and support junior kitchen staff, including apprentices and kitchen attendants.
* Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and WHS policies and regulations.
* Conduct mise en place and maintain organised, clean, and well-stocked workstations.
* Monitor portion control, food presentation, and quality according to established recipes and standards.
* Collaborate with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to refine menus and improve food production processes.
* Assist with stock control, deliveries, and proper food storage.
* Maintain equipment cleanliness and safety and report maintenance issues.
* Promote sustainable kitchen practices and minimise waste.
* Participate in training, mentor junior team members, and contribute to a positive team culture.
About You
* Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification).
* Experience as a Chef or Chef de Partie in a busy restaurant environment.
* Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
* Strong organisational and communication skills.
* Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
* Team-oriented and committed to continuous improvement.
