About Cadia
Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.
We acknowledge the Wiradjuri people, traditional custodians of the land surrounding Cadia, and proudly run an Indigenous Buddy Program to enrich the workplace experience our Indigenous employees. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the UG Mine Technician Jumbo Operator is responsible for executing underground development drilling, blasting, and ground support installation in a safe, efficient, and technically sound manner. You will play a key role in achieving daily development targets while upholding Newmont's high safety and operational standards while executing lateral advance and chamber excavations.
Key Responsibilities
* Attend and actively participate in pre-start meetings and complete daily pre-start machinery checks and workplace inspections.
* Operate and maintain jumbo equipment in accordance with Newmont's operational and maintenance procedures.
* Accurately drill development headings, stripping, and face holes as per mine plans or supervisor instructions.
* Install ground support (bolts, geobrugg / mesh, shotcrete) using approved safe work procedures.
* Complete shift reports accurately and submit to the Supervisor.
* Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and exercise duty of care for self and others—stop work if unsafe conditions are identified.
About You
* Strong safety focus and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
* Proven experience operating jumbo drills in underground hard rock mining.
* Strong knowledge of ground support techniques and ground conditions.
* Competent in charge-up and bogging duties.
* Ability to mine to design, on grade, and meet targets.
* Experience with Epiroc M2D or M20 highly regarded.
