Role Overview
The Systems & Platform Lead will contribute to the design, development and implementation of a Continuous Delivery Pipeline as per the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe - refer to
This is a DevSecOps development program to modernise the Navy's EW capabilities. Come and be part of a team that will develop the pipeline and environments to build, integrate and continuously deploy this brand‑new capability.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the design and build of a software factory in a cloud based virtualised environment, with tool chain including but not limited to CI/CD pipeline in a Software Development Environment.
* Collaborate with the Product Manager to identify and prioritise features related to the software factory and broader mission system and break down into value delivering tasks.
* Be the face of the Systems team and act as conduit for inter‑team communication.
* Analyse, design and implement automation strategies, including tool selection.
* Report metrics on team performance and strive continuously to improve delivery metrics.
* Monitor and manage technical operations.
* Problem analysis and resolution of emergent issues.
* Create high quality documentation including standard operating procedures and root cause analysis documents.
* Communicate with stakeholders both technical and non‑technical.
* Manage vendors, procurement and licensing compliance across the tools.
* Manage staff performance, competency and growth.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
* Minimum 8 years' experience in supporting software development and operations is essential.
* A university degree in STEM is required. In the absence of a degree equivalent experience is required.
* Advanced knowledge in Linux and Windows is essential.
* Good knowledge of networking is essential.
* Good knowledge of FOSS management and Cyber compliance is essential.
* Experience with Kubernetes is essential.
* Experience with identity management systems such as Keycloak, Active Directory is essential.
* Excellent written and oral communications skills essential.
* Experience in DevSecOps metrics and maturity models is highly desirable.
* Experience in VMware VCF/Tanzu Kubernetes is highly desirable.
* Experience in operations/service desk is highly desirable.
* Previous exposure to Defence Systems Engineering processes and tools desirable.
* Experience in a Defence related industry is desirable.
