Job Title : Maintenance Technician
Location : Hillsdale, Sydney
Overview of Role :
We are looking for a hands-on and proactiveMaintenance Technicianto support our high-volume production operations in Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and repairing production machinery and ancillary systems. Operating independently in a geographically remote site, the technician must be a rapid learner and capable of making informed technical decisions, while staying closely aligned with global Engineering and R&D; teams across time zones.
What you will do:
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance on production machinery, utilities, and facility equipment to maximize uptime and equipment reliability.
- Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to schedule, log, and track all maintenance activities, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with maintenance plans.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic faults, and perform timely corrective actions to minimize disruption.
- Carry out machine setups and adjustments to support production start-up and changeovers.
- Support installation and commissioning of new machinery and production lines.
- Perform minor facility maintenance tasks, such as lighting, compressed air, water supply, and basic infrastructure repairs.
- Maintain and update preventive maintenance schedules in alignment with manufacturer specifications and internal guidelines.
- Ensure availability of critical spare parts, monitor stock levels, and coordinate procurement with supply chain when needed.
- Collaborate closely with global Engineering and R&D; teams, sharing technical feedback and supporting new product and process rollouts.
- Participate in equipment improvement projects, including efficiency upgrades, reliability improvements, and safety enhancements.
- Monitor site utilities and escalate any performance or compliance issues.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment in line with 5S and housekeeping standards.
- Ensure all health, safety, and environmental regulations are followed at all times.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, providing updates on maintenance status, downtime events, and improvement opportunities.
What we need from you:
- Trade qualification (mechanical or electrical) or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and apply skills in a dynamic production environment.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities, able to work autonomously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Familiarity with CMMS platforms (e.g., we use Limble) for managing maintenance work orders and records.
- Solid understanding of industrial equipment including mechanical drives, pneumatics, and basic electrical systems.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to work across time zones with international teams.
- Experience in production, manufacturing, or packaging environments preferred.
