About the role
Reporting to the Director, Education & School Services, the Deputy Director provides strategic and operational leadership for a diverse portfolio of education services, with a strong focus on adult learning and the delivery of high‐quality, engaging professional learning.
In this role you will:
Lead the design, development, facilitation and evaluation of professional learning that improves practice and leadership capability
Set and embed quality standards for learning design, facilitation and evaluation across the portfolio
Drive innovation in delivery (blended, digital and scalable approaches) to increase reach and impact
Provide strategic leadership across curriculum, inclusion and professional learning services—ensuring alignment, coherence and responsiveness to sector needs
Lead and develop a team of managers; build a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement
Oversee budget planning and financial performance; ensure programs are commercially sustainable and valued by members
Represent the organisation credibly in sector forums and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders
About you
You're a credible, outcomes‐focused leader who can balance big‐picture strategy with practical delivery. You bring deep expertise in adult learning and a track record of designing professional learning that engages experienced leaders.
What you'll bring:
Senior leadership experience in education services, professional learning, capability development or a related field
While experience in school leadership is advantageous, the role does not require the incumbent to have been a school leader. Senior leadership experience in other sectors or industries, where the candidate can demonstrate excellence in adult learning, professional capability development, and service delivery is strongly valued.
Demonstrated expertise in adult learning design and facilitation, including evaluation for impact
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and complex portfolios
Strong commercial and financial capability (budget oversight and data‐informed decision‐making)
Highly developed communication, facilitation and influencing skills
Collaborative, reflective and resilient leadership style, with a commitment to inclusive practice
Current driver's licence and ability to travel as required
Influence educator practice and school leadership at scale through high‐quality professional learning
Work with a purpose‐driven team committed to evidence‐informed, learner‐centred services
