We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Sydney, Australia office. The successful candidate will be capable of managing projects of varying sizes, engaging directly with clients in the development, design, and coordination of engineering projects. Experience in delivering data centres, as well as sectors such as commercial, hotel, retail, and hospitality design, is desirable.
The role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, contractors, and professional teams. You should have a proactive approach to building client relationships within our sector portfolio.
You should possess strong technical knowledge in building services design, with the ability to integrate relevant technologies into the hotel, hospitality, and leisure sectors. This position is ideal for someone currently working in building services consultancy who is willing to work hands-on.
Mechanical Engineer - Sydney, Australia
Job Responsibilities:
1. Manage small projects, including research, development, design, coordination, and monitoring of mechanical or electrical systems, equipment, facilities, etc.
2. Develop and specify controls, instruments, and operating systems for building engineering services.
3. Conduct surveys, tests, and reports on existing electrical or mechanical installations.
4. Ensure manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing meet specifications and client requirements.
5. Represent the company at technical meetings with clients, professional teams, and contractors.
6. Prepare specification modifications using Word or Excel.
7. Ensure calculations and drawings comply with industry and legal standards.
8. Validate input from Intermediate & Graduate Engineers into designs.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Licensed or degree-qualified with sufficient experience in international consulting engineering.
2. Working towards or achieved MCIBSE/MIEE/Professional/Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
3. Experience in specification design/drawing for at least one building type.
4. Knowledge of health and safety legislation and standards.
5. Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel, and IT-based calculation software.
6. Understanding of BS SC standards and international design codes.
7. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and demonstrate managerial skills.
8. Act ethically, following the company's ethics guidelines.
