Providing specialist sexual assault and family violence programs and services, including 24 hour crisis care support, case management, therapeutic counselling, early intervention and professional education and training, we continue to grow and develop our offerings.


About the Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre

We are a client-centred organisation, supporting the community throughout Barwon, Wimmera, and the South West regions, offering a range of specialist support services to people impacted by sexual and family violence, encompassing 24 hour crisis care, specialist response services, early intervention programs, Victims Assistance Program, Community Legal Services, trauma recovery programs, professional training and primary prevention initiatives.

About The Role

Working from a trauma informed practice framework and with an intersectional lens, the Graduate Sexual Violence Support Worker’s primary role is to work collaboratively with the broader team and contribute to an integrated approach to service delivery, by supporting and assisting victim survivors and their non-offending family members to access relevant welfare and social support services that complement and support their recovery.

The successful candidate will be required to maintain a current Working with Children's Check and National Police Check at their own expense.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential Qualifications and Experience

Your application must address the following:

* A Bachelor or Master of Social Work from an accredited course/university (member services may choose to include other qualifications i.e. Psychology).
* Eligibility for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

Essential Skills and Knowledge

* A basic understanding of sexual violence, including knowledge of the gendered drivers of violence, the principles of trauma informed practice and intersectionality.
* Experience assessing and identifying client needs, developing and reviewing care plans, facilitating referrals and linkages with relevant services and supports, and monitoring progress to achieve positive client outcomes.
* Well-developed verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and autonomously.
* Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders and services, across a variety of sectors, to support the provision of integrated care for clients.
* Highly developed time management and organisational skills.
* Ability to advocate, negotiate and problem solve.
* Ability to practice with cultural competence and safety.
* Ability to participate in reflective practice and to be self-directed.
* Well-developed computer skills, including experience using electronic databases.

* Current Victorian Driver’s Licence.

Referees

Applicants must provide the name and current contact details of 2-3 professional referees including the most recent or current supervisor.

Period of Appointment

This position is fixed term depending on funding.

Hours of work

The position is full time or part time

Salary and Conditions

Annual salary range is Specialist Family Violence and Child Protection level 3 pay point 1-4 at $76,386.73 - $81,924.00 per annum plus superannuation (pro rata for part time).

Salary will be commensurate in this band with experience and skills.

Industrial Instrument: The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre Enterprise Agreement 2023.

Salary Packaging: Provided via Maxxia. PBI status with other expenses available to package above this cap. The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre is a Public Benevolent Institution.

Superannuation: The employer will also make superannuation payments on your behalf in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992.

Probationary Period – 6 months with a review conducted during this time.
