The Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in the design and documentation of residential solar systems, providing crucial support to our installation team. The successful candidate will serve as a key liaison between sales, installers, and operations, setting a high standard for our delivery team. Responsibilities Produce complete solar design packages including panel layouts, SLDs, BOQs, and performance modeling. Generate comprehensive Work Orders for installers including BOM, design guidelines and compliance with AS/NZS 3000, 5033, and 4777 standards. Conduct system sizing, shading analysis, and ROI calculations based on customer consumption data. Prepare documentation for grid approvals (Ausgrid, Endeavour and Essential Energy) Ensure accurate and complete supporting documentation for order processing. Thoroughly prepare project documentation in coordination with all stakeholders. Demonstrate independent problem-solving skills in client interactions. Deliver high-level customer service and promptly address queries. Provide technical advice to our representatives, coordinators, installers, and customer service team. Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely and accurate sourcing of materials. Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies to incorporate into system designs. Evaluate and optimise existing solar installations for improved performance and efficiency. Assist in the development of proposals and technical presentations for client meetings. Requirements 1 year of experience in a similar role within the Solar Industry (residential preferred) SAA design accreditation for grid connected. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite/Office 365, AutoCAD (essential) and PVSyst. In-depth knowledge of electrical and structural engineering principles as applied to solar energy systems. Familiarity with local permitting processes and building codes related to solar installations. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to thrive in a diverse team environment. Dedication to achieving company and team objectives.
